I like you but….

These are the dreaded words that I feel like I have heard time and time again. Now I understand that it isn’t completely realistic to have a boyfriend in college when you’re juggling classes, sorority events, and an internship but, it doesn’t hurt to have a companion by your side. Lately it seems like I have had no luck. Time and time again it seems like I am falling for someone who just can’t reciprocate the same feelings or isn’t ready for a relationship. So I’ve decided that this year I am going to date myself. That might sound extremely bizarre and I swear I am not crazy. I just think that this year will be the year to focus solely on me. So my friends,  I challenge you to the same thing. Make sure you spoil yourself everyday and always do what makes you happy.

XOXO,

Veronique

P.S. I know this was a short and random post but, it was something that was on my mind.

The time I turned into a hipster..

I apologize for my lack of posts the past week and a half, things have been just crazy! One of my roommates moved in, I have officially moved back to Chicago, and I just finished my last class of the summer! But, one of the best things I have done in the past two weeks is I went to Lollapalooza! Now to be completely honest, I was a little out of my element. I am used to country festivals and cowboy boots, not high waisted shorts and flower crowns! That being said I had the TIME OF MY LIFE! I got to see Zedd, Calvin Harris, Iggy, Lorde, and Skrillex (just to name a few).

I wanted to give you a list of my LOLLA essentials for the weekend:

1. COMFORTABLE SHOES- My biggest mistake was wearing combat boots and vans that weren’t completely broken in yet. I am not joking when I say that my feet were swollen for days afterword.

2. FLOWER HEADBAND- I know this is super cliche and trust me, I used to hate them too! I found that wearing a flower headband not only helped me embrace my inner flower child but, it is actually a super adorable way to accessorize.

3. DRESS APPROPRIATELY- Lolla is a time when you can wear unique and creative outfits and not get judged! I totally loved dressing up in cute crops and shorts and feeling like no one judged how you look!

4. BRING AN UMBRELLA/PONCHO- Because it will pour, and you will get drenched.

5. A FUNCTIONAL BAG- I went to Lolla with two of my best friends and we all carried different bags. I had a cross body, one of my friends had a backpack and the other had a fanny pack. I realized that we all brought what we knew would work best for us. It makes the day much more enjoyable when you aren’t worrying about your bag.

6. WATER, WATER, WATER- I didn’t bring a water bottle to Lolla but, I wish I did. They have a lot of water bottle filling stations and it would have been a much cheaper option.

7. SLEEP- The first night of Lolla my friends and I decided to go out to Wrigleyville. We ended up staying out til 5am and immediately regretted it the next morning as we were dead tired. I recommend dedicating your whole weekend to Lollapalooza.

8. MOST IMPORTANTLY- BRING YOUR FRIENDS- Lolla weekend would not have been the same experience if I didn’t get to share it with the people I love. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and I honestly can’t wait until next year.
